Shoot Day - Gorilla Masks

Gorilla Masks

My group and I had to make lots of decisions regarding the costumes that the actors were going to wear. We agreed on having the boiler-suites and different types of boots or trainers on the feet but we had a lot of disagreement on what each of us thought the mask that they were going to wear at the beginning of the sequence. At first, we had all thought that it could be quite unique and abstract to have 4 different animal masks, then we thought that we would have just plain theatre masks. A couple days after, I collected the variety of masks that were available to us from the theatre department and none of them seemed to fit the ideal mask that we wanted. It seemed like the decision of the mask that we were going to be using was quite important, as it would be the first impression that the audience would see when the opening sequence starts. Therefore, all of us sat by different computers and we were all trying to get ideas of masks that could work. We came across witch masks, old lady masks and animal masks. All of us were in agreement to get the old lady mask till one of us came up with the idea of having gorilla masks, it seemed bizarre at first but after all it was the mask that we ended up getting. Alen ordered them online and they came the next day for us to try out.

Here is footage of using the masks on the shoot day
